🌈 What is Copenhagen Pride?

Copenhagen Pride is Denmark's largest LGBTQ+ festival – an annual event that brings together thousands of people for partying, parades, debates and love in the center of Copenhagen. But Pride is much more than just glitter and colors. It is also a story of courage, freedom and the fight for equal rights.

🕰️ Where did it all begin?

Copenhagen Pride was officially held for the first time in 1996 as part of EuroPride , with Copenhagen as the host city. It marked the beginning of a new era for LGBTQ+ visibility in Denmark. Since then, the Pride has grown year by year and is today one of the most recognized Pride events in Northern Europe.

But Pride culture in Denmark goes back further. As early as the 70s and 80s, activists fought for gay rights in Denmark – inspired by the Stonewall riots in New York in 1969 , which was the starting point for the modern LGBTQ+ movement.
